King Kamehameha I Day 2024 Wishes

Every year during the month of June, Hawaiʻi comes together to celebrate King Kamehameha Day, It is pretty great day fall in Hawaii on June 11, the day celebrates the accomplishments of “Kamehameha the Great.” On June 11, King Kamehameha I Day is a public holiday in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It honors Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawaii. Kamehameha is honored each year with numerous celebrations across the islands. It featured carnivals and fairs, foot races, horse races, and velocipede races. King Kamehameha I Day was one of the first holidays proclaimed by the Governor of Hawaii. The celebration includes a traditional Pa‘u Parade and a Ho‘olaule‘a. The celebrations are organized by the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission and other community organizations.

King Kamehameha I also known as Kamehameha the Great, was the founder and first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. In Hawaiian his name is pronounced as Kalani Paiʻea Wohi o Kaleikini Kealiʻikui Kamehameha o ʻIolani i Kaiwikapu kauʻi Ka Liholiho Kūnuiākea. King Kamehameha was born to Kekuʻiapoiwa II, the niece of Alapainui, the usurping ruler of Hawaii Island who had killed the two legitimate heirs of Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku during the civil war.
