On the 7^th September every year, National Threatened Species Day is observed across the country to raise awareness of plants and animals at risk of extinction. The day marks to protect the native plants, animals, and ecosystems that are under threat. It is an opportunity for every person to raise their voice and learn about endangered species and how to protect them. 

Threatened Species Day was declared in 1996 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the death of the last remaining Tasmanian tiger at Hobart Zoo in 1936. (Info Based on www.environment.nsw.gov.au)
