On 18 July every year, Nelson Mandela International Day or Mandela Day is celebrated in honour of Nelson Mandela on his birthday. About Nelson Mandela:

Nelson Mandela is known and loved around the world for his commitment to peace, negotiation, and reconciliation, was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He devoted his life to the service of humanity — as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa. Mandela was born into the Xhosa royal family on 18 July 1918 and died on 5 December 2013.

Mandela Day will focus on Certain areas and goals (2019-2029) which are as follow: 

1. Provision of quality education for all children.
2. All children in Early Childhood Development (ECD) to have access to learning resources for development.
3. Reduce hunger in families through the provision of nutritious meals.
4. Eliminate malnutrition and stunting in young children.
5. Provide safe shelter for families to live and thrive in.
6. Eliminate homelessness.
7. Sanitation is safe in every school.
8. Enable access to safe sanitation to all communities.
9. Dedicate more resources to supporting poverty eradication projects.
10. Encourage public participation and activist voices towards the eradication of poverty and inequality.
